Which Junior Class is best for your child?

We offer three exciting classes for 5-10 year olds: Junior Stage, Junior Musical, and Junior Screen. These courses incorporate quality acting training, with fun drama exercises and improvisation activities. All three classes work towards exciting productions for our half year and end of year shows. Our Stage kids perform plays, our Musical stars perform musicals, and our Screen students make their own short films starring them!


Junior Stage

Key Skills Taught:

  • Voice Skills, including Projection, Articulation and Accents.
  • Script Skills: reading and understanding a script, makingnotes, understanding basic theatre terminology
  • Stagecraft: blocking scenes on the stage, movement &physicality, reactions (not just acting when they have aline), imagination.
  • Correct use of costumes and props
  • Discipline, commitment to a project and their classmates.
  • Characterisation, such as physical and personal qualities of their character, and exploring strengths and weaknesses and how they deal with an important issue.
  • Relationships between characters


Junior Musical

Key Skills Taught:

  • Timing – Understanding the importance of timing forsinging, for group reactions to situations in scenes, andfor musical choreography!
  • Vocal Skills, including projection, annunciation, singing intime to the music, pitch, emotion, tone, and vocal range.
  • Choreography – this helps young people withco-ordination and is colourful, dramatic and a heck of alot of fun!
  • Character development – Musical is over the top and extravagant, allowing for vibrant situations and characters.
  • Correct use of costumes and props
  • Discipline, commitment to a project and their classmates.


Junior Screen

Key Skills Taught:

  • How to create natural, realistic performances for thescreen, that don’t appear ‘stagey’ and over the top.
  • Basic on-set terminology that they would hear regularly and be expected to know, as actors in the film and television business.
  • How to use these skills in a fun, practical way, by actingin their own short film productions of various exciting genres.
  • How to move safely around a film set, so they don’t tripover cables or knock over a light!
  • Audition (screen test) skills, and on-set etiquette.
  • Correct use of costumes and props
  • Discipline, commitment to a project and their classmates.
